Chartering & Brokering

Chartering & Commercial Management

Kaen Shipping maintains an active commercial desk responsible for the employment and commercial performance of our fleet.

Our chartering activities include voyage chartering, time chartering and the evaluation of cargo and vessel employment opportunities across our trading areas.

Every commercial opportunity is assessed together with the vessel's technical capabilities, voyage economics, port restrictions, cargo requirements, operational risks and charter-party terms. This integrated approach enables us to make commercially sound and operationally realistic decisions.

Voyage Chartering

We actively evaluate cargo opportunities for dry cargo and general cargo vessels and structure voyage business with close attention to freight, port costs, bunker consumption, laytime, demurrage, detention and voyage duration.

Our commercial and operations teams work closely together from the initial fixture through voyage execution and completion. This allows potential operational issues to be identified early and helps ensure that commercial agreements remain workable in practice.

Time Chartering

Kaen Shipping is also active in time charter employment where suitable opportunities are available.

Time charter business is evaluated with careful consideration of trading limits, vessel performance, consumption, charter period, redelivery conditions, counterparty quality and operational exposure.

Our objective is to achieve stable and sustainable vessel employment without compromising operational safety or asset condition.

Cargo & Market Coverage

Our team maintains close contact with charterers, cargo interests, brokers and other market participants in order to follow cargo flows, vessel positions and changing market conditions.

This market access allows us to identify suitable employment opportunities and respond quickly when cargo and vessel positions align. We aim to combine competitive freight solutions with realistic voyage planning and dependable execution.

Shipbroking

In addition to the commercial management of our own fleet, Kaen Shipping provides shipbroking support between shipowners and charterers where appropriate.

Our role is not limited to introducing two parties. We assist in evaluating vessel suitability, cargo requirements, commercial terms and operational feasibility in order to support clear and workable fixtures.

Our practical shipowning and operational background gives us a direct understanding of the responsibilities and risks faced by both owners and charterers.

From Fixture to Completion

Our involvement continues beyond the fixture itself.

We follow voyage orders, port operations, notices, laytime matters, charter-party compliance and other post-fixture requirements throughout the employment period.

By maintaining close communication between chartering, operations, technical management and the vessel, we aim to achieve reliable voyage execution and protect the commercial interests of all parties.

Our Commercial Principle

We believe good chartering is not simply about achieving the highest freight or the lowest rate. It is about concluding commercially sound fixtures that can be safely and efficiently performed.

Our commercial approach is therefore based on market knowledge, practical vessel experience, disciplined risk assessment and long-term relationships.
